Arthur Freed (September 9, 1894 – April 12, 1973) [1] was an American lyricist and a Hollywood film producer. He won the Academy Award for Best Picture twice, in 1951 for An American in Paris and in 1958 for Gigi.

Arthur Freed was the movie producer head of the Freed Unit at MGM, which was responsible for creating some of the studio's classic musicals such as 'Easter Parade', 'An American In Paris' and 'Singin' in the Rain'.
