M83 ( French pronunciation: [ɛm katʁ vɛ̃ tʁwa]) are a French electronic music group formed in Antibes in 1999. As Knife + Heart is the soundtrack for a “noir-tinged erotic slasher” (directed by Gonzalez’ brother Yann) and was partly inspired by old porn movie soundtracks, this album is an edgier, more experimental release than other M83 albums.
M83 returned with Knife+Heart, the soundtrack to his brother Yann's erotic thriller set in the world of Paris' late-'70s gay pornography industry. Inspired by the soundtracks of the era's adult films as well as giallo film scores, the album came out in March 2019.
