Robert Adolf Stemmle (10 June 1903 – 24 February 1974) [1] was a German screenwriter and film director. He wrote for more than 80 films between 1932 and 1967. He also directed 46 films between 1934 and 1970. His 1959 film Die unvollkommene Ehe was entered into the 1st Moscow International Film Festival. [2]
Toxi is a 1952 West German drama film directed by Robert A. Stemmle and starring Elfie Fiegert, Paul Bildt and Johanna Hofer. The film's release came as the first wave of children born to black Allied servicemen and white German mothers entered school. It was shot at the Wandsbek Studios in Hamburg.
Robert A. Stemmle was born on 10 June 1903 in Magdeburg, Germany. He was a writer and director, known for The Ballad of Berlin (1948), Sündige Grenze (1951) and Die unvollkommene Ehe (1959). He was married to Gerda Maurus and Annelise Lippert.

Stemmle became one of the most successful and prolific West German directors and writers in the late 1940s and 50s. One of his most successful films was Berliner Ballade, a satirical postwar story told from the vantage point of the year 2048. As of the mid-1960s, Stemmle worked mainly in television.
