The Bram Stoker Award is a recognition presented annually by the Horror Writers Association (HWA) for "superior achievement" in dark fantasy and horror writing. History. The Awards were established in 1987 and have been presented annually since 1988, and the winners are selected by ballot of the Active members of the HWA.

Notable for his gothic horror and suspenseful stories, Stoker found little commercial success as a writer during his lifetime. It was only after the proliferation of Dracula films that he became well known and regarded.
Dracula is a novel by Bram Stoker, published in 1897. An epistolary novel, the narrative is related through letters, diary entries, and newspaper articles. It has no single protagonist and opens with solicitor Jonathan Harker taking a business trip to stay at the castle of a Transylvanian nobleman, Count Dracula.
