Oscar Godfrey Johnson Jr. (March 25, 1921 – May 13, 1998) was a United States Army soldier and a recipient of the United States military's highest decoration—the Medal of Honor—for his actions in World War II.
The Oscar Johnson, Jr. Community Center is situated on nearly two and one-half acres south of downtown Conroe. A six thousand square foot building with meeting facilities, classrooms, computer lab, kitchen and offices supports the Center's programming efforts to address the needs in the community.

Jul 14, 2023 · Oscar Johnson Jr. was Conroe’s first Black city councilman. He served on the council from 1975 through 1989, serving as mayor pro tem in 1977 and 1978. The Johnson family also operates the Collins & Johnson Funeral Home in Conroe.
The Oscar Johnson site will provide transportation from the following schools: BB Rice, Giesinger, and Cryar. CISD will provide transportation from Hope and Milam to Creighton. CISD will provide transportation from Bartlett to Patterson. All other sites will serve students attending that school.
