Aurania Rouverol (née Ellerbeck; August 13, 1886 – June 23, 1955) was an American writer best known for her play Skidding, in which she created Andy Hardy and his family, who were turned into a popular series of sixteen movies from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
Aurania was a writer, known for Dance, Fools, Dance (1931), Andy Hardy's Private Secretary (1941) and Love Finds Andy Hardy (1938). Aurania was married to William W. Fleetwood and Rouverol. Aurania died on 23 June 1955 in Palo Alto, California, USA.

Jean Rouverol (July 8, 1916 – March 24, 2017) was an American author, actress and screenwriter who was blacklisted by the Hollywood movie studios in the 1950s. Life and career. Rouverol was born in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of playwright Aurania Rouverol, [4] who created Andy Hardy and wrote many of the films in the MGM series.

In 1928 Aurania Rouverol's three-act comedy, "Skidding" ran successfully on Broadway for more than 450 performances, despite some negative reviews. A few years later, MGM bought the movie rights to the play. The resulting film, "A Family Affair," launched the famous Andy Hardy series with Mickey Rooney.
