[1] Edmund Lowe reprised his stage performance in the role of Inspector Barrabal. [2] It is based on the 1927 novel The Squeaker and 1928 play of the same name by Edgar Wallace.

The Squeaker is underworld slang for an informer in Britian. The title was changed to "Murder on Diamond Row" for the film's American release. Based on Edgar Wallace’s famous novel and play, the work had been adapted by Wallace in a 1930 film version. There was also a version produced in Germany in 1931.
