Mike Oldfield also makes a return for some superb guitar work. Many fans consider this song to be one of the best Kevin has recorded. “Stranger in Blue Suede Shoes” is next, with the driving force of the drums and that memorable riff.
A really creepy number with psychopathic vocals and weir guitar stuff (by Mike Oldfield): the most fascinating (and anguishing) song of the album. The title track is no less inspired but is at the opposite side of things: a romantic arrangement for the singer to express all his peculiar lunatic warmth.
The band broke up after a short tour, with no hard feelings, as most of the musicians guested on Ayers's next album, Whatevershebringswesing, which is regarded as one of his best, featuring the mellifluous eight-minute title track that would become Ayers's signature sound for the 1970s.
