Biography. Actor John Toles-Bey was known for his roles on the silver screen. In 1974, he joined Val Gray Ward's repertory company, Kuumba Workshop. In 1985, he wrote (also acted) short film, "Honky Tonk Bud." He formed the political satire comedy team "Strait Up" with Byron Chatman and performed for crowds at Venice Beach, CA.
