I've been thinking for a long time that Fortaner de Lescun must actually have been Piers' brother or half-brother, having seen a petition in the National Archives from Arnaud-Guilhem de Marsan and Fortaner, 'the sons of Claramonde de Marsan', and wondering why Piers' biographer Hamilton says Fortaner was Claramonde's brother.
