May 16, 1999 · E.K. Gaylord II has been named chairman of the Gaylord Entertainment Co., succeeding his father, Edward L. Gaylord, who will become chairman emeritus. The announcement was made at Gaylord Entertainment's annual shareholders meeting in Nashville, Tenn. E.K. Gaylord II, 41, formerly served as vice chairman of the company.
