For twenty years she had played Aunt Laura, a “crusty, bossy, but lonely widow,”[1] a New Zealand interloper who had moved into the village of Ambridge, having inherited Ambridge Hall.
Gwenda Wilson was born on 11 September 1921 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. She was an actress, known for BBC Sunday-Night Theatre (1950), Fuss Over Feathers (1954) and Dangerous Afternoon (1961). She was married to Don Sharp.
Sharp married Australian actress Gwenda Wilson in 1945, after appearing on stage with her in Kiss and Tell. In 1956, he married actress Mary Steele who he had met while shooting a documentary, Crossroads. Sharp died on 14 December 2011, after a short spell in hospital. He was survived by Mary Steele, two sons and a daughter.
