(written from a Production point of view)
Randy Lofficier (born 3 February 1953; age 71) is an American author and agent.
With her husband, Jean-Marc Lofficier, she helped found Hollywood Comics, an agency for comic writers and artists for movies and television. During the 1980s she and her husband were free-lance correspondents for the magazine Starlog for which they submitted numerous articles and interviews, a portion of those Star Trek related.
With her husband, she was one of the interviewers credited in the Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home - The Official Movie Magazine, and they were credited with writing the story "Mudd's Pets" in Malibu Comics' Star Trek: Deep Space Nine issues 26 and 27 "Genesis Denied, Part I" and "Genesis Denied, Part II". They also devised the plot for "Mudd's Magic!" from DC Comics, but were uncredited for their work.
Through the 1990s they translated a number of comics and screenplays for French audiences and in 2003 started Black Coat Press, a company that published English translations of popular French books in the science fiction, fantasy, and mystery genres. In the late 1980s the couple, then serving as editors-in-chief for the publishing company "Starwatcher Graphics", which was solely dedicated to publish the work of renowned French artist Jean "Moebius" Giraud, was instrumental in having his work published for the English speaking market through the publisher Marvel/Epic Comics. One of the couple's supervising editors for that project at the publisher was Margaret Clark. (Comics Scene, issue 9, 1989, p. 9) Moebius incidentally, was admired by Michael Okuda, as a Moebius art piece was prominently displayed on the walls of his work station in his Star Trek art department.
