   • By the 1920s, Ross had a multiple-year backlog of projects. But when the Great Depression hit, his business (and everyone else’s) slowed to a trickle. If the Depression had not occurred, his course count may have ended up closer to 700. Donald Ross passed away in the spring of 1948 while working on his final design, Raleigh Country Club.
