Sarah Frances Wells, 67, died Thursday, March 19, 2020, at NHC of Sumter. Born July 29, 1952, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Edwin Wells, Jr. and the late Sarah Hancock Wells. She was a graduate of Coker College and a retired medical technologist with Clarendon Memorial Hospital.
Jones’ mother, Sarah Frances Wells, suffered from mental illness when Jones was young, enduring a schizophrenic breakdown when their family still lived in Chicago. Quincy touches on that subject, and the stigma that accompanies it.
