Plot. Thirteen-year-old Rose Campbell is a sickly orphan who attended boarding school for a year after her father died. She now lives with her great aunts, Plenty and Peace, at the Aunt Hill and is heiress to a large fortune. Aunt Plenty gives Rose several medications because of her sickliness.
