Before Cinemassacre
Before Cinemassacre, Mike met James Rolfe in college in 2001. Back then the two of them spent a lot of time making low budget, independent, short films together for school. The first short film they made together was called The Alternate History of Mariowhich was about Shigeru Miyamoto's landlord Mario Segali, played by Rolfe. Many character traits seen in the AVGN character can be seen here, such as cursing, drinking lots of beer and flipping of a television set.
Cinemassacre
Mike has been involved in the productions of Cinemassacre since nearly the beginning. Matei was involved in most of the early episodes of the Angry Video Game Nerd. He helped with writing the scripts and recording the gameplay footage. Later he appeared on camera for the first time in 2006, with episode 12, Friday the 13th, as the mute killer Jason Voorhees. Leaving Cinemassacre
In July 2020, James and Mike put James & Mike Mondays on hiatus, due mainly to Covid preventing them from meeting up in person; however, on December 18, 2020, James made an update video where he announced that not only was James & Mike Mondays not returning, but that Mike was leaving Cinemassacre, after all these years, so he could focus on his own livestreaming full time.
On his channel, he uploads gaming livestreams, which he conducts over on his Twitch channel, which can often times be very long, sometimes 5-10 hours, or even longer, where he plays games, typically older games on retro consoles that he grew up with, like the NES, SNES, Genesis, Atari 2600, and even some later ones like N64, PS1, and Sega Saturn.

The Loco Bandito
Things would escalate further when 'The Loco Bandito', a character Mike created in the eighth grade, was discovered. Many criticized the comic due to its extremely offensive humor. One example was a comic where the character would commit obscene actions on multiple races and ethnicities, including himself. However, many others would say it's not currently accountable as it was created in the 1990s and Mike has implied regret in making the comic.
