Bachelor Bait. Bachelor Bait is a 1934 American comedy film about a man (William Watts) who is fired from his job issuing marriage licenses at city hall because of the actions of a co-worker. He starts a match making business which becomes very successful because of Mr. Watts' ability to find suitable matches for everybody except for himself.

Bachelor Bait came very early in the career of Oscar®-winning director George Stevens (A Place in the Sun [1951], Giant [1956]). Stevens had recently joined the RKO family following a promising start at Universal where he had directed several shorts as well as his first feature film called The Cohens and Kellys in Trouble (1933).

7/10. A sparkling little B+ picture. glennstenb 23 April 2019. "Bachelor Bait" is a fun and well executed little picture, kind of a gentle B+ level movie. It has good dialogue, well thought-out direction, sharp set decoration and lighting, and a fun cast of characters delivering their lines nicely.
