Lamont Herbert Dozier (/ l ə ˈ m ɒ n t ˈ d oʊ ʒ ər /; June 16, 1941 – August 8, 2022) was an American singer, songwriter, and record producer from Detroit. He co-wrote and produced 14 US Billboard number-one hits and four number ones in the UK.
Legendary team with Brian and Eddie Holland; wrote dozens of hits for The Supremes, Four Tops, Isley Brothers and Martha and the Vandellas. Lamont Dozier was born and raised in Detroit and was surrounded by music as a child, beginning to write lyrics and music before he was a teenager.
