Basil Konstantine Poledouris (/ ˌ p ɒ l ɪ ˈ d ɔːr ɪ s /; August 21, 1945 – November 8, 2006) was an American composer, conductor, and orchestrator of film and television scores, best known for his long-running collaborations with directors John Milius and Paul Verhoeven.

Basil Poledouris. American composer Poledouris wrote the music for Big Wednesday (1978), reuniting with director John Milius on Conan the Barbarian (1982). He worked frequently with Paul Verhoeven too, on films including Robocop (1987) and Starship Troopers (1997), as well as scoring The Hunt For Red October (1990) and Free Willy (1993).
