Carl William Demarest (February 27, 1892 – December 28, 1983) was an American character actor. He is best known for playing Uncle Charley in My Three Sons. [1] He was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Demarest died from prostate cancer and pneumonia in Palm Springs, California, aged 91.
Prolific character player of the 1930s and 40s, later on TV, typically in cranky but endearing comedy roles. Appeared in all of Preston Sturges' Paramount films of the 1940s, most memorably as Officer Kockenlocker in.
