    Carl Byrd (10 August 1935 – 7 February 2001; age 65) was the actor who played Lt. Shea in the Star Trek: The Original Series second season episode "By Any Other Name". He filmed his scenes on Friday 10 November 1967 and Monday 13 November 1967 at Desilu Stage 10.

    He also appeared with fellow Original Series guest star Christopher Held in episodes of Mission: Impossible (also with Joseph Bernard), Taxi, The Jeffersons, and St. Elsewhere (with Ed Begley, Jr., Ellen Bry, and Norman Lloyd). Other television series on which he has appeared include I Dream of Jeannie (with David Soul), Barnaby Jones (with Lee Meriwether), Cannon (with Sharon Acker, Michael Bell, and George D. Wallace), Quincy, M.E. (with Robert Ito and Garry Walberg), and The Rookies (1975, with James Gruzal).
