Cross wrestled at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics, winning bantamweight gold in 1996. He was a three-time US Champion, and was voted the outstanding freestyler at the 1992 and 1995 US Nationals. After college, Cross served as an assistant coach at the University of North Carolina.
