Brett Halsey (born Charles Oliver Hand; June 20, 1933) is an American film actor, sometimes credited as Montgomery Ford. He appeared in B pictures and in European-made feature films. He originated the role of John Abbott on the soap opera The Young and the Restless (from May 1980 to March 1981).

He is best known as the original John Abbott on the soap opera The Young and the Restless, a role he held from May 1980 to March 1981, before being replaced by Jerry Douglas.
Instead, it comes out of the wicked imagination of actor and novelist Brett Halsey. No stranger to swashbuckling, swordplay and voluptuous women, Halsey starred in such 1960’s Italian adventures as Seven Swords for the King and The Avenger of Venice. Twirl the mustaches! Tear up the bodices!

Formerly a page at the CBS studios in Hollywood, the 20-year-old Halsey was signed to a Universal contract in 1953. His earliest film efforts include The Glass Web (1953) and Ma and Pa Kettle at Home (1954), in which he played one of the myriad of Kettle offspring.
