The Santa Monica City Council unanimously approved hiring Sloan at its meeting Tuesday night. He officially starts June 6, and per his new contract will live in the city.

Sloan has served as City Attorney for the City of Fresno since 2013, and previously served as Assistant City Attorney in Fresno starting in 2006.
