Actor, singer, and dancer Joel Grey is the elder son of Mickey Katz, the popular bandleader and comedian. (Grey is also the father of actress Jennifer Grey). After making his name with his nightclub appearances in New York, Chicago, Hollywood, and Miami Beach, Grey made his first appearance on the New York stage in THE LITTLEST REVUE, in 1956. In the early '60s he appeared in a number of Broadway musicals before creating the role of the evil MC in the hit musical CABARET in 1966, for which he won a Tony Award.
