Pick almost any forward-looking trend in rock, and you're likely to find Brian Eno's name attached in some way. Beginning in the 1970s, he's pioneered everything from post-prog art-rock to ambient music to sample-based electronica. His popular career began with Roxy Music, where he broke new ground with his synthesizer and tapes work (he didn't know how to play any instrument conventionally). From there, he went on to an illustrious solo career full of innovative electronic music as well as rock-based LPs like 1975's Another Green World, occasionally returning to vocal-driven work with releases such as 2022's FOREVERANDEVERNOMORE. Eno has produced landmark albums by U2, Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel, and Coldplay, while continuing to experiment and record with everyone from Robert Fripp and Daniel Lanois to Robert Wyatt and Underworld's Karl Hyde. The retrospective film and soundtrack Eno appeared in 2024. Wikipedia
