Daniel Boyd (born 1982) is an Australian contemporary artist working in painting, sculpture and installation. He won the Art Gallery of New South Wales' Bulgari Art Award in 2014 and was a finalist for the 2022 Archibald Prize.
Highlights include his iconic early work Treasure Island 2005; Untitled (ZVDG) 2014 from his famed History is made at night (Kochi) series; and the intimate Untitled (BAT) 2020, one of the artist’s first large-scale works drawing from his personal archive of lived experiences and memories.
Daniel Boyd is considered one of Australia’s leading artists. A Kudjala, Ghungalu, Wangerriburra, Wakka Wakka, Gubbi Gubbi, Kuku Yalanji, Bundjalung and Yuggera man with ni-Vanuatu heritage, he now lives and works on Gadigal/Wangal Country, Sydney.
Daniel Boyd reinterprets Eurocentric perspectives of Australian history, often appropriating images that have played significant roles in the formation and dissemination of that history.
Traversing an archaeology of lost and suppressed histories, Boyd reinterprets artistic and archival material across art, science, history and geography in order to challenge Eurocentric perspectives and romanticised notions that dominate the historical canon.
Daniel Boyd is an Indigenous Australian multidisciplinary artist. His paintings, installations, and sculptures are informed by his Kudjla/Gangalu heritage, and examine Eurocentric narratives around Australia's colonial history.

Daniel Boyd was born in Cairns, Queensland, in 1982. He lives and works in Sydney, New South Wales. His work was exhibited in 'Culture Warriors' at the National Gallery of Australia in 2007.
