He is most remembered today for his regular 7 year role as neighbor "Jim Gillis" in the TV sitcom, The Life of Riley (1953), starring William Bendix (1953-1959). In 1950 D'Andrea provided comic support for William Bendix in "Kill the Umpire".

Thomas J. D'Andrea was an American actor in films and on television. D'Andrea's first job was at the Chicago Public Library, after which he worked in publicity at the Sherman Hotel in Chicago. Contacts with entertainers at the hotel led to an opportunity to work in Hollywood.
