David Charles Goelz (/ ˈ ɡ oʊ l z /; born July 16, 1946) is an American puppeteer, puppet builder and actor, known for his work with the Muppets. As part of the Muppets' performing cast, Goelz performs Gonzo the Great, as well as Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, Waldorf (after Jim Henson's death), Zoot and Beauregard, originating on The Muppet Show.
Dave Goelz (b. July 16, 1946) has been one of the lead Muppet performers for over 50 years, performing Gonzo, Beauregard, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, Zoot, Boober Fraggle, Uncle Traveling Matt, Stinky the Skunk, and Rugby Tiger, as well as succeeding the role of Waldorf from Jim Henson.
Dave Goelz's Bunsen along with Steve Whitmire's Beaker are one of the most famous Muppet duos. GOELZ: At that time Sesame Street was shot at Teletape Studios at 81st & Broadway. I had pre-arranged with Frank Oz to visit the set.
