May 4, 2024 · It was the first time the university featured majorettes in the band since 1947, when they were cut. They returned after many years of public pressure and have been part of the band ever since. In 1968, the band added a majorette line, the Kentucky Sweetheart Majorettes.
The Kentucky Sweetheart Majorettes began in 1968, making the University of Kentucky one of the strongest and longest-standing majorette programs in the Southeastern Conference. Kentucky Sweetheart Majorette Alumni Club hopes to rejuvenate the program by providing scholarships for 10 majorettes and 2 feature twirlers.
