Kenenisa Bekele Beyecha (Oromo: Qananiisaa baqqalaa; Amharic: ቀነኒሳ በቀለ; born 13 June 1982) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. He was the world record holder in both the 5,000-metre and 10,000-metre from 2004 until 2020.
It will be a special return to the French capital, where Bekele recorded an impressive marathon debut, winning there in 2014. He heads to back Paris where he will face his all-familiar Kenyan rival Kipchoge, the man who beat him to the world title when France hosted the 2003 championships.
