- Impressed in high school. A Florida native, Powell shined at Deerfield Beach High School, where he was ranked 267th overall in the ESPN 300 and was the 34th-ranked athlete in the 2014 recruiting class.
- Former Gator. Powell started his college career as a running back before switching to receiver as a sophomore with the Gators. He recorded 45 catches for 387 yards and two touchdowns during his junior season; as a senior, he had a team-high 42 receptions for 406 yards and three touchdowns.
