Luis Ernesto Aparicio was a Major League Baseball player with the Chicago White Sox ( 1956 – 1962 ), Baltimore Orioles ( 1963 – 1967 ), Chicago White Sox ( 1968 – 1970 ), and Boston Red Sox ( 1971 – 1973 ). Little Louie, his nickname, was a truly outstanding defensive shortstop with exceptional baserunning skills.
During his MLB tenure Aparicio led American League shortstops twice in double plays and total chances per game, four times in putouts, seven times in assists and eight times in fielding. He holds all time marks for games played (2581) and assists (8016), and hold AL records for putouts (4548) and total chances (12,564).
