Asafa Powell, CD (born 23 November 1982) is a retired Jamaican sprinter who specialised in the 100 metres. He set the 100 metres world record twice, between June 2005 and May 2008 with times of 9.77 and 9.74 seconds.

Jun 27, 2015 · KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) — Former world record-holder Asafa Powell won the 100-meter final Friday night in Jamaica’s trials in 9.84 seconds. The 32-year-old Powell used a strong finish to earn a spot in the world championships in August in China.
Jamaica’s Asafa Powell was presented with the prestigious World Athlete of the Year Award following a spectacular season which saw him remain undefeated at 100m and run under 10 seconds an unprecedented 12 times!
