Edgar Mitchell was an American astronaut who was a member, with Commander Alan B. Shepard, Jr., and Stuart A. Roosa, of the Apollo 14 mission (January 31–February 9, 1971), in which the uplands region north of the Fra Mauro crater on the Moon was explored by Mitchell and Shepard.
