Southfield Township is a civil township in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. Today, the majority of the township consists of three suburban villages; Beverly Hills, Bingham Farms, and Franklin; though two small areas, comprising 0.17 square miles (0.44 km 2), remain unincorporated.
Mostly of Irish, English, and German descent, they traveled west to Michigan by way of the Erie Canal. John Daniels is generally acknowledged as the first settler of Southfield Township. He reportedly turned east in 1823 and brought back with him Martin and William Lee, Edmund Cook and George White.
