Richard Anthony Stanfel (July 20, 1927 – June 22, 2015) was an American football player and coach in the National Football League (NFL). He played as a guard, and his college and professional career spanned more than 50 years from 1948 to 1998. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a player in 2016.
The Detroit Lions used their second-round pick in the 1951 NFL Draft on University of San Francisco guard Dick Stanfel. The move proved to be a wise one as Stanfel became the anchor of a dominant Lions team of that era.
