Economics of Education. The Education Program studies the effect of education on individuals’ earnings and other outcomes, as well as the effect of educational inputs and education policies on student achievement.
Overview. Much of the analysis in the economics of edu-cation flows from a simple model of production. The common inputs are things like school re-sources, teacher quality, and family attributes; and the outcome is some measure of student achievementdfrequently but not always student test scores.
The study of economics examines how individuals, organizations, and societies make choices under conditions of scarcity. Thus, a primary goal of economic education is to equip students with the knowledge and tools they need to make the best choices possible, given the resources available.
