Raoul Walsh (born Albert Edward Walsh; March 11, 1887 – December 31, 1980) was an American film director, actor, founding member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), and the brother of silent screen actor George Walsh.
Raoul Walsh was a Hollywood legend who directed over 140 films, including classics like The Roaring Twenties, White Heat, and The Naked and the Dead. He also acted in The Birth of a Nation and The Big Trail, and wrote The Thief of Bagdad.
