Ernst Wilhelm " Wim " Wenders ( German: [ˈvɪm ˈvɛndɐs]; born 14 August 1945) is a German filmmaker and playwright, who is a major figure in New German Cinema. [1] Among the honors he has received are prizes from the Cannes, Venice, and Berlin film festivals.
Since the mid-1990s, Wenders has distinguished himself as a non-fiction filmmaker, directing several highly acclaimed documentaries, most notably Buena Vista Social Club (1999) and Pina (2011), both of which brought him Oscar nominations.
Perfect Days is a 2023 drama film directed by Wim Wenders from a script written by Wenders and Takuma Takasaki. A co-production between Japan and Germany, the film follows the routine life of Hirayama (Kōji Yakusho), a public toilet cleaner in Tokyo.
