Children love to discover what lives near water and imagine what they cannot see. Take time to picnic at the tables that overlook the lake in the shade of majestic oak trees. Monte Bello Open Space Preserve. Stevens Creek Nature Trail - The trail is a 3-mile loop and takes about 3 hours at a leisurely pace.
This is a favorite area for day hikers that offers spectacular views of San Francisco Bay on one side, and the Pacific Ocean, on the other. The preserve is part of a series of Santa Clara Mountain parks along Skyline Boulevard. Parking is on either side of Page Mill Road (map: http://g.co/maps/c7fn2).

The Open Space Preserve is on the west side of the County Park, also bordered by Los Altos Hills, Monte Bello Open Space Preserve, and the Permanente Quarry. The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District manages both the 3988 acre Open Space Preserve and the 289 acre County Park.
