Harriton House, originally known as Bryn Mawr, is an historic house which is located on the Philadelphia Main Line, and was most famously the residence of Founding Father Charles Thomson, the secretary of the Continental Congress. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
Harriton House is a remarkably well-preserved Colonial-period estate, with splendid architecture and replete with historical associations. Well-preserved and sited in an ideal location on Pennsylvania's Main Line, you can walk through the atmosphere of a our earliest era, among period furnishings and authentic décor.

Today a restored Harriton House and surrounding 16½ acre park are open to the public as Lower Merion's only public historic house museum. The house and surrounding park are owned by the Township and administered in a public/ private partnership by the not-for-profit Harriton Association .
Harriton House. Location: Bryn Mawr Built: 1704. Harriton House was the home of Charles Thomson, Secretary of the Continental Congress and designer of the Great Seal of the United States. The area surrounding the house was the site of a minor skirmish in December 1777.
