The National Hobo Museum began as the dream of 3 life-long hobos and former Hobo Kings. Determined to preserve the history of the American Hobo, these men formed the Hobo Foundation in the mid-1970s.

The Hobo Museum is small, but when taken in the context of the entirety of the Town of Britt, it is a unique, extremely engaging, and highly authentic view of the past, present and future of the fading hobo lifestyle.
Housed in old theater, the Hobo museum has memorabilia, artifacts, stories, and a PBS documentary on the history and life style of Hobos. One interesting fact, apparently after the Civil War many veterans carried hoes and rode trains looking for work. Hoe Boys became "Hobo." The museum and the town of Britt are interesting places to visit.
