  2. The Rockwall County Historical Foundation was organized January 16, 1978 to collect and preserve the county’s history. Today, we own and operate three historic buildings in Harry Meyers Park: Manson-LaMoreaux-Hartman House, Bailey House, and the Tenant Cabin.

  4. 1897 G.R. DeWeese and T.H. Meredith dig a shaft through a cross section of a large rock wall northeast of town (near present-day FM. 549 and Clem Road). 1901 Dr. Robert T. Hill, a Texas geologist, publishes an article about the rock wall and classifies them as clastic sand dykes.

  5. Wonderful small museum on the grounds of Harry Meyers Park. Oldest house in the county (early1800's), it was moved to this site and has many pieces of history. Next door is the Bailey House (early 1900's) which is being restored above its move in June 2017.

  6. In the early 1850s, farmers were digging a well and discovered a rock wall that crossed the county and at some places appeared above ground level. Scientists have determined that this is a natural formation, but folk tales continue to say that it was built by prehistoric natives.
