There are many life guards, slides, a pool, a lazy river, and a fantastic kiddie pool. I bring grand children to carlsbad every summer. We swim everyday. We go when it opens to make sure we get a table. The usda summer lunch program is in the park by the pool M-F, kids under 18 eat free and adults are 3.00. 11:30 to 1 pm.

Cool off at the Carlsbad Water Park, a fun family spot on the shores of the Pecos River. Ride the twin speed slides and the 50-foot-tall slide known as “Big Blue,” then take a leisurely float in the lazy river pool. The park includes a zero entry children's play area as well as locker rooms.
During our 4 day trip to Carlsbad this was our last day to let the kids get out and just play in the water. They ranged from 5 to 15. Older kids had the big water slide, middle the small water slides and lazy river for the younger and adults. It is a small park which I liked as I could see all my grandkids at a quick glance.
