Vertigo. On May 22, 2002, a crane lifted David blaine onto a 100-foot high, 22-inch wide pillar in Bryant Park, New York City, where he stood for 35 hours with no sleep and no harness or safety net to protect him from the concrete below. He ended the feat by jumping off in front of 50,000 live spectators onto a layer of cardboard boxes.
