A determined prospector, Jonathan Harvey (Paul Kelly) finds gold after years of searching. When he returns to town to tell his partner, Jonathan finds that his friend has died, leaving his son, Tommy (Gary Gray), on his own. While Jonathan's loyal collie, Lassie, stays with the boy, he goes to find help to assist him with his lucrative discovery.
