Mr. Moto in Danger Island is a 1939 American mystery film directed by Herbert I. Leeds and starring Peter Lorre, Jean Hersholt and Amanda Duff. It is part of the Mr. Moto series of films. The film was based on the 1933 novel Murder in Trinidad, but the setting was moved to Puerto Rico.
Mr. Moto, accompanied by Twister McGuirk, a wrestler who has apprenticed himself to the famous detective in order to learn his jiu jitsu tricks, arrives in Puerto Rico on the trail of a diamond smuggling ring.
Aided by a wrestler (Warren Hymer), the Japanese detective (Peter Lorre) nabs diamond smugglers in Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico has become the back door by which a criminal syndicate smuggles inexpensive contraband diamonds from South America into the United States, dramatically driving down the price of legitimate gems. After they have ruthlessly murdered a special investigator, Moto is assigned to the case.
In Puerto Rico to investigate a glut of contraband diamonds that are flooding the world's jewel market, Mr. Moto and his sidekick, a wrestler, find themselves involved in murders by thrown daggers, the frame-up of an overstressed Army colonel, and a pirate gang led by an unknown boss who has inside knowledge of the ensuing investigation.
