Frogs also marked the motion picture debut of actor David Gilliam and the first film directed by George McCowan. Critics commented on the film's "nature-strikes-back" theme and the similarity of Frogs to Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 production of The Birds and the 1971 horror film Willard ( and below).
